We have completed the first major milestone in a broader performance improvement initiative for AmpliPhi.app.
What's new?
- Refreshing a Constituent List now recalculates only the Segmentation or Channel you are actively working in.
- Other Segmentations and Channels using the same Constituent List are no longer automatically recalculated.
- Linked unlocked Campaigns still recalculate when needed to maintain accurate Campaign data.
- Users now have better visibility into where Constituent Lists are being used and refreshed.
What does this mean for you?
- Faster refresh operations and less unnecessary processing.
- More predictable behavior when working with shared lists.
- Improved performance for organizations with complex audience structures.
- Greater control over when recalculations occur.

Why We Made This Change
Earlier this year, we shared our plans to redesign how refreshes and recalculations work inside AmpliPhi. Today, we're excited to announce that this performance improvement is now live.
Historically, refreshing a Constituent List automatically recalculated every connected Segmentation, Channel, and Campaign that referenced that list. While this ensured everything remained synchronized, it also increased processing time and could trigger recalculations in areas unrelated to the work a user was actively performing.
New Refresh Behavior
| Action | Result |
|---|---|
| Refresh Constituent List in a Segmentation | Recalculates only that Segmentation |
| Refresh Constituent List in a Channel | Recalculates only that Channel |
| Same list used elsewhere | No automatic recalculation |
| Refresh a Campaign | Updates directly connected Segmentations and Channels |
| Linked unlocked Campaigns | Continue to recalculate when required |
The key improvement is the elimination of unnecessary cross-module recalculations. Each Segmentation and Channel now maintains its own calculation context, allowing refreshes to remain focused on the work being performed.
Better Visibility and Reduced Background Activity
This update also includes improvements to Constituent List visibility. Users can now more easily understand:
- Where a Constituent List is being used.
- Which Segmentations reference the list.
- Which Channels reference the list.
- Refresh activity across different contexts.
This additional transparency helps teams manage shared lists more confidently and better understand the impact of refresh actions throughout the platform.
The platform performs fewer unnecessary calculations, allowing resources to be focused where they provide the most value. Fundraising and data teams now have more control over when recalculations occur, helping them work more efficiently without triggering updates across unrelated areas of the platform.
Looking Ahead
This release is part of a broader performance roadmap focused on improving performance, scalability, and user control. Future enhancements will continue to focus on:
- Improving calculation efficiency.
- Enhancing platform performance.
- Supporting increasingly complex audience strategies.
Our goal remains the same: helping fundraising and data teams spend less time waiting for calculations and more time building audiences, validating campaigns, and engaging supporters.
Thank You
This enhancement was driven directly by client feedback. Organizations using AmpliPhi.app every day helped us identify opportunities to improve performance while maintaining the accuracy and confidence teams rely on before launching a campaign.
About AmpliPhi.app
AmpliPhi.app is an audience segmentation and validation platform built specifically for nonprofit fundraising teams. It helps organizations build audiences, validate campaign lists, understand exactly who is included before launch, and move forward with confidence. By giving teams greater visibility, control, and trust in their data, AmpliPhi helps nonprofits spend less time managing spreadsheets and more time connecting with donors.
